Changing Minds

The California International Auto Show (CIAS) had been known casually as the "Orange County Auto Show," sometimes even "the other show," with the Los Angeles Auto Show receiving top billing.

CIAS, operated jointly by the Orange County Auto Dealers Association (OCADA) and the Southland Motor Car Dealers Association (SMCDA), was looking to break out from behind the shadow of the more prominent Southern California show.

GAC successfully interceded to affect the following:

  • Secured show-record of 12+ World and North American vehicle introductions
  • Coordinated and managed meetings with every major OE in Southern California and Detroit
  • Worked with OCADA and SMCDA to produce sponsored-media fly-ins for out-of-town national media
  • Served as point for two OEs to produce evening media events
  • Coordinated two on-site ride-and-drives
  • Designed, wrote, produced and distributed all-new show newsletter
  • Took both media and consumer attendance to record numbers
  • Wrote and distributed all media communications
  • Pitched stories to a wide gamut of local and national press, catapulting the show to the national spotlight alongside LA Auto Show for the first time ever
